I’m really seeing that SMO (Social Marketing Optimization) is the way to go!

Great example–Gary Vaynerchuk (VAY NER CHUK), star of www.winelibrary.com has built an amazing e-commerce site. At first, no one could find him on Google. But Gary went from having 60K unique visitors back in Sept 2007 to over 120K today! The guy must be bringing in at least $150K a month in product revenue alone!

He’s also appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Conan O’Brian and Nightline for his innovation and online business savvy.

How does he do it?

  1. Routinely posts a video blog (vlog) at least couple times a week if not more.
  2. He posts on social marketing networks just enough to get people back to his site.
  3. Over 25,000 follow him on Twitter. He twitters about 5-10 times a day.
  4. 4600 friends on Facebook and 17 FB Groups related to him
  5. Podcasts on iTunes is linked to his site.
  6. His own active personal blog is linked into his site.
  7. He gives away tips, reviews, free shipping, posts deals of the day.
  8. He creates fun ways in which to keep his audience engaged.
  9. He offered free shipping for his twitter peeps if they twittered back “YES” in the next 2 hours.
  10. He really lets his personality and passion shine through!!
