So we’ve all been hearing the buzz about social marketing, social media, internet marketing, web 2.0, etc.  You see it on CNN, FOX, The Daily Show and even Oprah (how soon will she reach 1 million followers?)  Certainly the hype is warranted and everyone and their grandmother are tweeting on Twitter, finding friends on FaceBook, linking on LinkedIn and digging everything they’re reading on Digg!


Maybe it’s a passing fad!  If I ignore it maybe it’ll go away…Doubtful!


But let’s put some concrete numbers to all the hype!  mashable.com gives us the up to date lowdown dirty in real numbers.

2009 is the year of social media. Once, Twitter was a place where you could read about someone else’s cat. Now, it’s the first place you go to when there’s breaking news.
